Manager

My mom shops at Publix Carolina Forest Myrtle Beach. She use to shop at Krogers that is in the next parking lot over. Her reason for switching was because she went to the grand opening of Publix where everyone was so nice and inviting. She did a medium food shop that day and was walked to her car by an employee who helped her put the groceries into her car. She loved that. Then she was handed a free coupon for spaghetti sauce that she could use on her next trip back to Publixs. She said "whats this?" and the employee said "its a Publix tradition we give the customers free coupons at the end of a food shop providing you spent enough money and you are walked out to your car" My mom then asked if it was just a promotional type thing or was Publix always going to give out the free coupon? The employee laughed and said "its a Publix tradition that will always be on going for as long as the store is still in business". My mom continued to shop at Publix spending lots of money just to be walked out to her car and to continue getting her free coupon. She got a thrill out of a free box of pasta or a thing of ice cream. The more mom went back she noticed people were not walking her to her car as much anymore. She chalked it up to being there at the wrong time of day. Of course she wondered what was free that week - but she got over it. Until this morning when she went to shop at Publix - store was totally empty - she grabbed the items she needed for the week and went to the check out. Finally someone was going to walk her to her car again. Of course the store was empty and it was early. Sure enough a man walked her to her car helping her put the bags in the trunk. Mom then asked "whats the free coupon this week"? The employee turned to her in the parking lot and said "Oh no we are not giving out free coupons anymore" Managers orders. Maybe check back in a month or so. Well like i said - they started pulling back on walking her to her car to avoid having to give her a free coupon and today just confirmed what she knew all along. So i guess it was just promotional and they couldn't admit to it. I always think honesty is the best policy. She will be shopping back at Krogers where she is not spending double the money for meat and bread and all the other grocery items that are nearly double the amount at Publix. I don't even know why she bothered to shop at Publix. Even a free coupon for a jar of spaghetti sauce didn't make up for the money she was charged on everything being over priced. Thanks anyway Publix. Next time try being honest with your customers. As for the manager - i hope you like spending all the free coupons that were suppose to be given out to the customers. Take care
